People may think that a faucet installation or replacement is quick and easy, but there’s more to it than just undoing a few nuts and bolts. First, if you want the job to be performed correctly, you’ll need specialized tools. If any of the parts are old and corroded, they can be difficult to remove and may require specialized tools to take off. Next, the water supply line will need to be shut off. Sometimes it could be shut off through a local shutoff valve, and other times, the main water supply line to the whole house will need to be shut off. Additionally, you will be required to remove other fixtures, such as garbage disposals, P-traps, water systems, and pipes under the sink before you can gain access to the drain lines and fittings. Lastly, we will evaluate the condition of the hidden hardware and existing pipes to determine if they need to be repaired or replaced before connecting them to the new faucet in order to have a successful installation.
When choosing a faucet, the critical first step to a successful faucet installation or replacement is to purchase the right faucet to fit your space. The right faucet will have openings that align with the existing openings in your sink or counter, so that the faucet you purchase will appropriately fit in the space left behind by your old faucet. Faucets typically have between 1 and 4 holes to fit the different options in your sink or counter, and the number of sink accessories – such as soap dispensers or sprayers - in the sink setup. Be sure to read the reviews and product specification of the faucet you intend to purchase to be sure its compatible with your current setup. Spending a few extra dollars on a quality faucet, such as Moen or Kohler, will save you money in the future!
